Mission Statement

Our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of Japan’s culinary heritage in the United States through outreach to chefs, culinary arts professionals and all who admire and enjoy Japanese culture.

We are committed to the principles of cultural and gastronomic education and exchange and we believe that by inspiring chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, and food lovers both professional and amateur through such educational initiatives, we will expand and enrich their repertoires, their artistry and their cultural understanding.

The Gohan Foundation serves as a resource center for knowledge of traditional Japanese ingredients, techniques and food-related products, and as a catalyst for the expansion of that knowledge in the United States.

A copy of the Gohan Foundation's annual report may be obtained, upon request, from the organization or from the New York State Attorney General's Charities Bureau, Attn: FOIL Officer, 120 Broadway, New York, New York 10271. The organization's first annual report will be filed on or before May 15, 2007.
